Featuring the Striking Walking LIberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The obverse design was revived for the Silver Eagle Series after first appearing on Adolph Weinman's half dollar. Known as Walking Liberty, it features Liberty carrying branches as the morning sun rises. Obverse inscriptions include the figure's name, "LIBERTY,' the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman designed two of the most famous coins in American history, the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime. He also sculpted countless works that can be seen to this day in cities throughout America.
Reverse: On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen stars are arranged in a triangular formation above an eagle, which protects a union shield. Along the rim are three inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti spent over three and a half decades with the US Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver. During that time, he designed more coins and medals than anyone else in its history.
