Exquisite Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Obverse: Liberty strides confidently draped in the American flag as she carries laurel and oak branches against a backdrop of the rising sun. The design comes from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar. The figure's name, "LIBERTY," is among three inscriptions on the obverse. "2021" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are the others. Adolph Weinman is one of the best known names in America's numismatic history thanks largely to the Walking Liberty half dollar and Mercury dime. His sculptures can be seen in many American cities.
Reverse: Thirteen stars are at the top of the reverse design, and an eagle protects a union shield below them. The design was created by John Mercanti, who modeled it off of the Great Seal of the United States. Inscriptions on the rim note the coin's country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," weight, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and face value, "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti is a legend of American numismatics. He spent 37 years with the US Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver. Over that period, he created designs for more medals and coins than anyone else in American history.
