Treasured Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Obverse: Adolph Weinman's famous Walking Liberty design graces the obverse. The morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon as Liberty carries laurel and oak branches, symbols of civilian and military honors. Her name, "LIBERTY," arches over the image, joined on this face by the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a sculptor of the early 20th century. HIs sculptures remain on display in numerous American cities. His most famous numismatic works include the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime.
Reverse: The reverse design was modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged over an eagle, which protects a union shield. Inscriptions along the rim encircle the image and provide essential information about the coin, reading, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR.' John Mercanti served as the US Mint's twelfth Chief Engraver. His term in that position constituted just part of his nearly four decades with the institution, over which period he designed more medals and coins than anyone else in American history.
