Why order this 2021 MS69 American Silver Eagle?
The United States Mint is planning to release bullion Silver Eagles in mid-2021 that feature an entirely new reverse design, replacing John Mercanti's original heraldic eagle reverse design for the first time in the series. Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The obverse bears Adolph Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design. Liberty bears laurel and oak branches in her left arm as she extends her right hand in front of her, above the rising sun. Obverse inscriptions note her name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman designed two of the most important pieces of America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance, the Mercury dime and the Walking Liberty half dollar. This is in addition to his work as a sculptor, which remains on display in many American cities.
Reverse: The Great Seal of the United States was John Mercanti's inspiration for his reverse design. That design consists of thirteen stars, which are arranged above an eagle that protects a union shield. John Mercanti was the twelfth Chief Engraver of the US Mint. That was just part of his three-plus decade time with the institution, during which he designed more medals and coins than anyone else in its history.
