Why purchase this 2021 Type-2 American 1 oz Silver Eagle?
The American Silver Eagle gets its first ever redesign in 2021 with Emily Damstra's Eagle Landing design replacing John Mercanti's adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. This is the first time in the history of the series that a release does not feature both of the original designs. Mercanti's design was included on coins early in the year, meaning that collectors can own two different types of the coin from 2021.
Exquisite Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: The coin's obverse design remains unchanged from previous years. Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty shows an American flag draped Liberty carrying branches in the early morning sun. She is joined by inscriptions of her name, "LIBERTY," the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the date, "2021." Adolph Weinman was a sculptor and numismatic designer. He designed two of the best known pieces of America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: The new reverse design was created by Emily Damstra and engraved by Michael Gaudioso. An eagle carries an oak branch in its talons as it prepares to land. Rim inscriptions note the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," and its metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." Also included on this face is the second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

Experts at Asset Marketing Services point to economic factors and historic coin revisions as driving interest in classic American Eagle coins to date.
Introduced simultaneously in 1986, the American Silver Eagle and American Gold Eagle -were both intended to create an American bullion coin that would compete with similar coins from other world mints. However, they soon became much more than that.
