Why add the 2021 1 oz Gold American Eagle T-2 $50 NGC MS70 Brown Label to your collection?
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this 2021 1 oz. Gold American Eagle T-2 $50 coin at the solid Mint State 70 (MS70) level. 2021 marks not only the 35th anniversary of the beloved series, but the first year that a new reverse design will start appearing on the series. While early 2021 issues featured the original Family of Eagles design, in mid-2021 a new reverse design created by Jennie Norris debuted giving collectors the unique opportunity to own two 2021-dated American Gold Eagles, each bearing a different numismatic design.
Designs from Yesterday and Today
Obverse: The obverse of the coin features the image of Lady Liberty from the Augustus Saint-Gaudens designed $20 Gold "Double Eagle." This design is often regarded as one of the most beautiful gold design struck in U.S. coinage. The obverse of the Type-2 American Gold Eagle has had some original details reintroduced on the U.S. Capitol and sun rays that result in a depiction closer to Saint Gaudens' original design and vision.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin features the profile portrait of an American bald eagle. This is the first appearance of this powerful image designed by the United States Mint's Artist Infusion Program (AIP) contributor Jennie Norris.
