Obverse: Liberty stands at the center of the obverse facing the holder as she lifts her torch, a symbol of freedom, and holds an olive branch, a symbol of peace, off to her side. The design, which was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, originally appeared on the Double Eagle. "LIBERTY" and "2021" are inscribed on this face.
Reverse: The reverse design was created specifically for the American Gold Eagle Series by Miley Busiek. A male eagle carries an olive branch back to its family, which waits in the nest below. The two statutory mottoes, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," are inscribed between the male and the nest. Rim inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD," and "5 DOLLARS."
