This 2020-W $5 Basketball Hall of Fame Gold Coin celebrates the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield that acts as a museum that preserves the sport and its players for future generations. The coin was graded by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) at the lofty Mint State 70 (MS70) level and qualified for the First Day of Issue (FDI) designation. It was struck at the West Point branch of the U.S. Mint. It contains .242 oz. of gold struck on a 90% fine gold planchet.

The obverse image shows three people in the epic struggle of playing basketball. The arms have been enhanced to emphasize the struggle of playing the game. The images have been artistically interpreted to emphasize physical exertion.
