Historic Personification of Liberty
Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse as envisioned by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. An American flag-wrapped Liberty is portrayed gracefully walking towards the rising sun with her right arm outstretched. In her left arm, she cradles a cluster of oak and laurel branches, which are representative of strength and victory. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
A heraldic eagle design by John Mercanti is centered on the reverse. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
