Why purchase this First Day of Issue 2020-W Proof American Silver Eagle coin?
Sculptor Adolph A. Weinman's design for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar was revived in 1986 for the U.S. Mint's American Silver Eagle series. Representing the 35th year of issue, this West Point minted proof Silver Eagle coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
Iconic Silver Eagle Design
Weinman's personification of Liberty is located on the obverse, illustrating a beautiful woman walking towards the rising sun draped with the flag of the United States, carrying a bundle of oak and laurel. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse design by former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti features a heraldic eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," West Point's "W" Mint mark and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
Perfect First Day of Issue Proof 70 with Black Frame and American Flag Label
This 2020-W American Silver Eagle Proof was received for grading by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) within the first twenty-four hours of release. Determined to be perfectly struck with flawless surfaces and sharp delineation between the frosted design elements and mirrored backgrounds, the coin was awarded the grade of Proof 70 Deep Cameo (DCAM). The silver dollar is presented in an attractive black frame affixed with a coveted First Day of Issue flag style label.
