Why purchase this 2020-W $1 American 1 oz Proof West Point Silver Eagle?
The American Silver Eagle and Proof American Silver Eagle both made their debuts in 1986. They quickly earned their places among the annual favorites of collectors around the world. Not only do they enjoy the backing of the US government for weight and purity, but they also feature one historic classic and one modern classic design. This Proof was struck on a 1 oz planceht of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint. Its "W" mint mark combines with its finish distinguish it from the bullion version.
Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
Few coins in American history are as recognizable today as Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The Silver Eagle's obverse design comes from that coin. Liberty steps confidently toward the left side of the obverse extending her right hand in front of her, above the morning sun. In her left hand she carries branches of laurel, symbols of civilian honors, and oak, symbols of military ones. She is the picture of patriotism with the American flag draped over her. She also wears a powerful symbol, a Phrygian cap, which is indicative of a freed slave. "LIBERTY" arches over the image along the rim, while the date, "2020," and national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are inscribed elsewhere on this face.
John Mercanti designed the reverse using the Great Seal of the United States as his model. At the center is a union shield that is guarded by an eagle. The eagle holds a ribbon in its beak. The ribbon bears a Latin inscription that means, "From many, one." In its talons the bird holds arrows, which represent America's willingness to defend her values, and an olive branch, which expresses a desire for peace. At the top of the design, thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged in a triangular formation. They represent the original states. Three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR," encircle the image.
Virtually Flawless PF69 UC ER with Blue Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin its second highest grade, Proof 69, thus indicating that it appears perfect to the unaided eye. The grading company also certified the piece Ultra Cameo thanks to the contrasts between its deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices and Early Releases due to the fact that it was submitted to them no more than 30 days after its initial mint release. This information comes provided on a blue label.
