Iconic Winged Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Obverse: The obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman's Winged Liberty dime, which is more commonly known as the Mercury dime. Liberty dons a winged cap, which represents freedom of thought, as she faces left. She is joined by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2020."
Reverse: The reverse design comes from Weinman's 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal. An eagle stands with its wings spread as it holds a branch in its mouth. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are inscribed along the rim at the top and bottom, while other inscriptions read, "$25" and "1 OZ. PD .9995 FINE." Adolph Weinman is one of the most important figures in the history of American numismatics. His most famous works include the Mercury dime and Walking Liberty half dollar. He was also a sculptor, and his work features prominently at many locations around the United States.
