Why does this 2020-W Burnished American Silver Eagle coin belong in your collection?
The U.S. Mint celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the American Silver Eagle series with the introduction of a gorgeous burnished (uncirculated) variety of the coin in 2006.
Elegant Beauty of the Silver Eagle
Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed on the obverse, walking towards the rising sun, while wrapped in an American flag. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The design emulates the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar by Adolph A. Weinman, German-American sculptor of the early 20th century.
Reverse: A heraldic eagle design created by John Mercanti is located on the reverse, featuring the national bird grasping an olive branch and arrows beneath thirteen stars. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "W." Mr. Mercanti is one of the most prolific modern medal artists, creator of more than 100 designs while employed by the U.S. Mint from 1974-2006.
