Why buy this (2020) United States 1 oz Silver Matte Andrew Jackson Presidential Medal?
President Andrew Jackson won election to the Presidency as a populist. Loved by many and reviled by others, he is the only American President whose time in office is so unique that the period of time was named for him, "the Jacksonian Era." This Presidential Silver Medal honors him and his unique legacy. It was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver and has a mate finish.
Powerful President Andrew Jackson Design by Moritz Furst
Morittz Furst designed and engraved the portrait of President Andrew Jackson that features on the obverse. "ANDREW JACKSON PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES" arches over the image. At the bottom is an inscription of the year that he took office, "A.D. 1829."
John Reich's reverse design consists of two parts. At the top, a tomahawk and a peace pipe are crossed. Below, two hands clasp. The wrist of one is bare, representing Native Americans. The wrist of the other has a cuff with three buttons and three stripes. The words "PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP" are inscribed on this face as well.
The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) determined that this medal appears perfect even as seen under 5x magnification. That is why they awarded it their highest grade, Mint State 70.
