Why order this 1 oz Silver Matte (2020) United States Andrew Jackson Presidential Medal ?
Join the United States Mint in honoring America's seventh President with this Andrew Jackson Presidential Silver Medal. Jackson was a transformative figure in American politics. His election victory sent shock waves through the political establishment and horrified those who had trouble accepting that a 'common man' could rise to the nation's highest office. Like other presidential silver medals, this piece was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver, the same weight and purity used for American Silver Eagles.
Featuring Moritz Furst's Powerful President Andrew Jackson Design
A right-side portrait of President Andrew Jackson by Moritz Furst features on the obverse. Jackson bears a stern and confident countenance. Largely encircling the effigy along the rim are inscriptions of his name, "ANDREW JACKSON," and title, "PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES." They are joined at the bottom by an inscription of the date that he assumed office, "A.D. 1829."
John Reich designed and sculpted the Peace and Friendship design that is on the reverse. Its title is inscribed along with images of clasped hands and a peace pipe crossed with a tomahawk. The title refers to the relationship between the United States and Native Americans. The wrist of the hand on the left, which represents the United States, has a cuff with three buttons and stripes. The wrist of the hand on the right, which represents Native Americans, is bare. This design has also appeared on previous presidential silver medals.
