Why buy this (2020) United States 1 oz Silver Matte Presidential Andrew Jackson Medal?
Andrew Jackson was the first 'common man' to become President of the United States. His election upended and infuriated the political establishment while serving as an inspiration to countless others. This medal honors America's seventh President. It was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver and has a matte finish.
Striking President Jackson Design by Moritz Furst
The obverse features a right-side portrait of President Andrew Jackson. The effigy shows him as both somber and confident. The President's name and title, "ANDREW JACKSON PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES," spread throughout most of the rim. They are joined at the bottom by an inscription of the year in which Jackson assumed the presidency, "A.D. 1829."
John Reich's Peace and Friendship design is on the reverse, as was the case with previous Presidential Silver Medals. The phrase "PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP" is inscribed along with a crossed peace pipe and tomahawk and two clasped hands. One hand, the wrist of which has a cuff with three stripes and buttons, represents the United States. The other, which represents Native Americans, has a bare wrist.
