Why add this 2020-S Proof release of the U.S. Mint's American Silver Eagle series to your collection?
This 2020 dated proof coin hails from the 35th year of issue of the U.S. Mint's popular American Silver Eagle series. The coin's distinctive heraldic eagle reverse design is scheduled for replacement at some point in 2021. The U.S. Mint has applied a product limit of 200,000 and the release is currently unavailable there.
Historic Walking Liberty Design
Obverse: Lady Liberty is depicted on the obverse as envisioned by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar. The timeless design portrays Liberty draped in an American flag, walking towards the rising sun surrounded by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Larger examples of Mr. Weinman's many architectural sculptures adorn buildings such as the U.S. Supreme Court and the Jefferson Memorial.
Reverse: The reverse features former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti's rendition of a heraldic eagle grasping arrows and an olive branch, with thirteen stars above. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "S" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Mr. Mercanti began his career at the Mint in 1974, culminating with the Chief Engraver position from 2006-2010.
