Featuring Classic Designs by Two Numismatic Legends
Obverse: One of the best known designs in American history, Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty, graces the obverse. The morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon as an American flag-draped liberty carries branches in the foreground. Inscriptions on the obverse include the figure's name, "LIBERTY," the date, "2021," and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman contributed the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime to America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance. In addition to his coin and medal designs, he also created many sculptures, some of which are displayed prominently in cities across America.
Reverse: John Mercanti created the reverse design using the Great Seal of the United States as his model. An eagle holds arrows and an olive branch while protecting a union shield under a triangular arrangement of thirteen stars. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed on the top half of the rim, while "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" and "ONE DOLLAR" are inscribed on the bottom half. John Mercanti is the most prolific designer of coins and medals in the history of the US Mint. He spent over three and a half decades with the institution, including time as its Chief Engraver.
