Featuring Classic Designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti
Obverse: The coin's obverse design was taken from the Walking Liberty half dollar, which was designed by Adolph Weinman. Draped in the American flag, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches against a backdrop of the rising sun. Her name, "LIBERTY," arches over the image, while "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2020" are inscribed elsewhere on this face. Adolph Weinman is best known to coin collectors for his Walking Liberty half dollar and Mercury dime. Besides his numismatic work, he also sculpted many pieces that are on display throughout the United States.
Reverse: John Mercanti's reverse design was inspired by the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen five-pointed stars represent the original states above an eagle that protects a union shield. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," its weight, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and its face value, "ONE DOLLAR," encircle the design along the rim. John Mercanti spent more than three and a half decades with the United States Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver. Nobody in American history has designed more coins and medals than he has.
