Gorgeous Kansas Prairie Scene
Obverse: The obverse portrait of George Washington was created in 1932 by John Flanagan for the introduction of the Washington Quarter series. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "P" and "QUARTER DOLLAR." Mr. Flanagan was an acclaimed medallic sculptor of the early 20th century, who is also credited with the design of the 1915 commemorative Panama-Pacific International Exposition medal.
Reverse: On the reverse, an exquisitely rendered Regal Fritillary butterfly meanders through the windblown blades and seed heads of Big Bluestem and Indian grasses. The image is encircled by the inscriptions "TALLGRASS PRAIRIE," "KANSAS" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," with the date of issue "2020" below.
