Enchanting Windblown Prairie Design
Obverse: The obverse features the iconic bust of George Washington created by John Flanagan in 1932. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "QUARTER DOLLAR" and the Mint mark "P." Mr. Flanagan was a well-known medallic artist who spent five years of his sculpting career as a studio assistant to Augustus Saint-Gaudens (1907 Double Eagle designer).
Reverse: The reverse depicts a stunningly detailed Regal Fritillary butterfly as it floats in the air currents within a field of Big Bluestem and Indian grasses. A frame surrounding the picturesque prairie image includes the inscriptions "TALLGRASS PRAIRIE," "KANSAS," "2020" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
