Why order this $1 Australia 2020-P 1 oz Silver Lunar Year of the Mouse?
In 1999, the Perth Mint began its Lunar Series I. Since that initial issue, the mint's Lunar issues have exploded in popularity. The initial Lunar Series ran through 2010, but Lunar Series II began in 2008. It ended in 2019. Now, Lunar Series III begins with this Year of the Mouse issue. The first in the new series, this coin is sure to be prized by collectors for decades to come. It was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .9999 fine silver and bears the iconic "P" mint mark of the Perth Mint on the reverse. This coin is part of a mintage of 300,000 pieces.
Exquisite Mice Design by Ing Ing Jong
A right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark dominates the obverse. The monarch has her shoulders open to the holder and wears earrings and a necklace. On her head is her famous Royal Diamond Diadem, the crown that she traditionally wears to the State Opening of Parliament in Westminster. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," joins "AUSTRALIA" in the top half of the rim frame. Inscriptions on the bottom half offer the coin's weight and purity, "1 OZ 9999 AG," and its face value, "1 DOLLAR."
Two mice forage on husks of corn in Ing Ing Jong's reverse design. To the right are the Chinese character for "mouse," the English inscription "MOUSE," and the date, "2020."
