Why buy this 1 oz Silver 2020-P $1 Australia Lunar Year of the Mouse?
The Perth Mint begins its Lunar Series III with this Silver Year of the Mouse. The new series follows two extremely successful runs of Chinese zodiac issues. Each series gives collectors the chance to complete a unique, diverse set of coins within just twelve years. Part of a mintage of 300,000 pieces, this coin was struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine silver and bears a "P" mint mark on the lower right of the reverse.
Exquisite Mice Design by Ing Ing Jong
A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark features on the obverse. The monarch wears her Royal Diamond Diadem, earrings, and a necklace. She is shown in right-side profile with her shoulders open to the holder. A rim frame with four sets of inscriptions encircles the image. "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA" are on the top half, while "1 OZ 9999 AG" and "1 DOLLAR" are on the bottom half.
On the reverse, two mice forage on husks of corn. The design was created by Ing Ing Jong. To the right are the inscriptions "MOUSE" and "2020," as well as the Chinese character for "mouse."
