Why purchase this Dragon and Phoenix 2020-P Figure Eight Shaped Antiqued 2 oz. silver coin?
Chinese culture is rich with tradition and philosophies based on the power of mythology and symbolic imagery. The Perth Mint's Figure Eight series commemorates those customs with its unique shape and gorgeously detailed symbolic designs. Struck from 2 Troy oz. of .9999 fine silver with a dramatic antiqued finish, the coin is shaped like the number eight, which is the luckiest number in Chinese culture. This 2020 dated third release of the series celebrates the Dragon and Phoenix. Mintage is limited to only 3,888 coins.
Elaborately Detailed Dragon and Phoenix Imagery
A dragon and phoenix are illustrated on the reverse, elegantly curving around the figure eight shape. In Chinese culture, the combined appearance of a dragon and phoenix symbolizes the harmony of marriage and the balanced relationship between yin and yang. The design includes the Perth Mint's "P" Mint mark.
A pattern of concentric circles adorns the obverse, with Jody Clark's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II located at their intersection. Inscribed "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," "2 OZ 9999 AG," "2020" and "2 DOLLARS."
