Why order this $1 Australia 2020-P 1 oz Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle?$1 Australia 2020-P 1 oz Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle
The Perth Mint and former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti together embarked on a historic project in 2014. For the first time, a US Mint engraver collaborated with a foreign mint. The beneficiaries of this partnership have been collectors around the world, who have enjoyed the unique combination of the stunning designs of a numismatic icon combined with the incomparable execution of the Perth Mint. Part of the latest issue in the series, this coin was struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine silver and bears a "P" mint mark on the reverse. It is part of a mintage of just 50,000 pieces, all of which is now sold out at the Perth Mint.
Exquisite Wedge-Tailed Eagle Design by John Mercanti
British Royal Mint designer Jody Clark created the obverse design. The right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II shows the reigning monarch down to her shoulders. On her head is her famous Royal Diamond Diadem. She also wears earrings and a necklace. Her image is encircled by a rim frame that bears inscriptions of her name, "ELIZABETH II," the name of the issuing nation, "AUSTRALIA," and the face value of the coin, "1 DOLLAR."
On the reverse is a closeup look at the remarkable wedge-tailed eagle. The bird spreads its wings to its side while extending its head and its talons forward, preparing to latch onto a branch. An inscription on the top portion of the rim frame bears the name of the series, "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE." Near the bottom are the date, "2020," and the weight and purity of the coin, "1 OZ 9999 SILVER."
Flawless MS70 with Mercanti Signed Flag Label
This coin earned Professional Coin Grading Service's (PCGS's) highest grade, Mint State 70, which means that it appears perfect even under 5x magnification. John Mercanti hand signed the label on which this grade is provided. That label also bears an American flag.
