Classic Great Seal Design by John Mercanti
Obverse: Gracing the obverse is the patriotic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Coming from the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, the image features Liberty draped in the American flag carrying branches in the early morning sun. Obverse inscriptions read, "LIBERTY," "2020," and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman was a sculptor who immigrated to the United States from Ireland. His most famous works were the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: On the reverse is John Mercanti's adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle guards a union shield under thirteen stars, which symbolize the original states. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," the face value of the coin, "ONE DOLLAR," and the coin's metal content, "1 OZ. FINE SILVER." John Mercanti spent almost four decades with the US Mint, including time as its Chief Engraver. He is the most prolific designer of coins and medals in American history.
