Why order this 2020 88gm/888gm Silver New Year Celebration Panda 2pc Set?
2020 marks the first year of a new lunar cycle. The lunar calendar, which is important in Asian culture, is a favorite theme among coin collectors. Struck in Ultra High Relief, these two coins are among three that were issued to mark the new cycle. The larger of the coins was struck from 888 g of .999 fine silver, while the smaller was struck from 88 g of the same. The 888 g piece is part of a mintage of 188 pieces, while the 88 g coin is part of a mintage of 888 pieces.
Exquisite Panda and Dragon Designs
The two coins in this set share the same designs. On the obverse is the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, an important structure in the Temple of Heaven. Although it is the same building that is featured on the bullion Panda, the perspective is different. The holder has an angle that makes it appear as though they are viewing the temple from below rather than from the side. The date, "2020," is inscribed at the bottom.
The reverse combines three important Chinese symbols. The largest among them is a dragon. Unlike in Western culture, the dragon is a friendly creature in the East. There is also a panda design that is similar to the one that appeared on the first annual Panda issue in 1982. The "Fu" symbol, which is traditionally displayed during the Chinese New Year, is included in the lower left. The image is encircled by a rim frame in which there are three sets of inscriptions. "CHINESE NEW YEAR PANDA" is in the upper left, while an inscription in Chinese characters is in the upper right. At the bottom are each coin's respective weight and purity.
Impeccable PF70 UC FDI
The experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certified that these coins appear perfect even under 5x magnification by awarding them their highest grade, Proof 70. They also certified the coins Ultra Cameo, which means that they exhibit sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields. Finally, they labeled the coins First Day of Issue, which means that they were submitted for grading through an exclusive process.
