Why purchase this Brilliant Uncirculated 2020 1 oz. Silver Britannia coin featuring an Oriental border?
The Oriental Border Britannia has been released by The Royal Mint each year since 2018, featuring an annually changed border design complementing Philip Nathan's 1987 rendition of Britannia. The specially designed borders are a tribute to the 19th century British trade dollars minted to facilitate trade with Asia. Struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, this 2020 dated bullion coin represents the third and final release of the Oriental Border Britannia series. Mintage is limited to 50,000.
Powerful Standing Britannia Image
The reverse features Britannia encircled by an ornate Oriental style geometric border. Britannia stands above the inscriptions "2020" and "NATHAN," in a wind-blown gown and Corinthian helmet, with an olive branch and patriotic shield held in her left hand, and a trident in her right. "BRITANNIA" is inscribed vertically along the trident's staff, with "ONE OUNCE 999 SILVER" beside it.
The obverse depicts the right facing likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by The Royal Mint Engraver Jody Clark. The image is surrounded by a guilloche patterned field containing the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "D.G. REG. F.D.," and "2 POUNDS."
