Striking War & Peace Design by Matt Dent and Christian Davies
Obverse: Royal Mint designer Jody Clark created the obverse image, a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing earrings and her Royal Diamond Diadem. The image is encircled by two rim inscriptions, the monarch's name and abbreviated Latin title, "ELIZABETH II D G REG FID DEF," and the face value of the coin, "5 POUNDS."
Reverse: Matt Dent and Christian Davies created the reverse design using stone inscriptions on war memorials as their inspiration. "WAR" and "PEACE" intersect, sharing an "A." Rim inscriptions read, "THE END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR" and "1945-2020."
