Why purchase this 2020 ¥10 China 30 g Silver Panda?
Since 1988, the Chinese Silver Panda developed into a global favorite among annual bullion issues. The series features one-year only designs that depict pandas, the animals that are symbols of the nation. Over the past decade, demand for the coins has exploded. It drew particular interest in 2016 when it became the first annual bullion coin issued in metric units rather than imperial ones. This 2020 Silver Panda was struck from 30 g of .999 fine silver at the China Mint.
Moving Baby Panda Design by Song Lina
On the obverse is the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This example of traditional Chinese architecture is situated in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. It is a circular building with stairs leading up to it. "People's Republic of China" is inscribed in Chinese characters above the image on the rim frame, while the date, "2020," is included below.
This year's reverse design is the work of Song Lina, who has spent years studying the animals. Her work shows a baby panda facing the holder as he enjoys his favorite meal, bamboo leaves. Inscriptions on this face include the coin's face value and it's weight and purity, "30 G AG .999."
