Why add this ¥10 China 2020 30 g Silver Panda to your collection?

The China Mint continues the rich tradition of the Chinese Silver Panda with this 2020 edition. This bullion coin has been issued annually since 1988, though its size changed from 1 oz to .30 g when the China Mint became the first major mint to switch over to the metric system in 2020. That novelty adds to the appeal of the series's exquisite one year only designs. This piece was struck from 30 g of .999 fine silver.

Endearing Baby Panda Design by Song Luna

As is tradition, the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, one of the buildings in Beijing's Temple of Heaven, features on the obverse. Stairs lead up to the circular edifice, which is circular and tiered. Along the rim is a frame in which there are two inscriptions, "People's Republic of China," which is in Chinese characters at the top, and the date, "2020," which is at the bottom.

On the reverse is a baby panda. Designed by Song Lina, the image shows the panda seated on the ground facing the holder. It is eating bamboo leaves with one of its front paws and grabbing more from the tree above with the other. The coin's face value is set off to the left, while its weight and purity, "30 G AG .999," is inscribed along the rim in the upper right.

Nearly Flawless MS69 FS with Custom Panda Label

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) provided the grading information for this coin on a custom panda label that is housed in a classy red frame. That information includes the company's second highest grade, Mint State 69, and First Strikes certification. To receive an MS69 grade, a coin must appear perfect to the unaided eye. First Strikes means that a coin was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial mint release.
