Why add this 30 g Silver 2020 ¥10 China Panda to your collection?
The rich tradition of the bullion Chinese Silver Panda continues with this remarkable addition to the series. The 1 oz bullion Silver Panda was first issued in 1988. Over the past decade, demand has increased mintages of the series dramatically. The series became particularly noteworthy in 2016 when the China Mint began striking coins in metric units instead of imperial ones. This piece was struck from 30 g of .999 fine silver. That is the size to which the 1 oz version of the coin was converted.
Endearing Panda Design by Song Lina
The obverse design for this series remains constant from one year to the next. The Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, one of the structures in Beijing's Temple of Heaven, features at the center. Stairs lead up to the tiered, circular building, which is a stunning example of traditional Chinese architecture. The building is encircled by a rim frame in which there are two inscriptions, "People's Republic of China," which is in Chinese characters, at the top, and the date, "2020," at the bottom.
Northern China native Song Lina designed the reverse. Lina has been studying pandas for years. She shows a baby panda enjoying a meal of his favorite food, bamboo leaves. He is seated facing the holder as he feeds himself with one paw and grabs more leaves from the tree above with another. Inscriptions on this face offer the coin's weight and purity, "30 G AG .999," and its face value.
