Why Buy This GEM BU and GEM Proof 6 Piece Set of 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Coins in Original Mint Packaging?
The U.S. Mint has been supporting and honoring organizations with their modern commemorative coin program since the early 1980s. In 2020, they struck a range of curved commemorative coins to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Gold $5 coins, silver dollars, and clad half dollars were all minted with proof and brilliant uncirculated finishes. The set offered here includes 6 coins. Three of them are proofs and the other three have brilliant uncirculated finishes.
Impressive Curved Basketball Designs
The same general design is shared by all of the denominations. The obverse displays a design by Justin Kunz, which shows 3 different basketball players reaching for the ball at the same time as it travels through the air.
The finely detailed design on the reverse really fits with the curved shape of the coin. This is a design by Donna Weaver. A basketball is depicted going through the net. The face value is inscribed on this side of each coin.
GEM BU and GEM Proof in Original Packaging
All 6 of these coins are still in their original packaging. They're in the same condition they were in when they left the U.S. Mint.
