Why buy this 2020 $1 Australia 1 oz Silver Spinner Dolphin?
Few creatures on land or in the sea attract quiet as much love and attention as dolphins. The animals have been known to guide ships, protect people lost at sea from predators, and provide other help to humans. For the second year in a row, the Royal Australian Mint honors these creatures in a bullion series. The 2019 edition honored the bottlenose dolphin while this one features the spinner dolphin. Part of a mintage of 25,000 pieces, this coin was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver. It will arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Stunning Spinner Dolphin Design
The obverse bears a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. The image, which goes down to her shoulders, shows the monarch wearing earrings, a necklace, and her Royal Diamond Diadem. Alont the rim are inscriptions of her name, "ELIZABETH II," the name of the issuing country, "AUSTRALIA," the date, "2020," and the coin's face value, "1 DOLLAR."
Spinner dolphins are known for jumping out of the water, spinning, and doing flips. On the reverse, a dolphin leaps out of the water against a backdrop of the setting sun. The image is encircled by a rim frame in which there are two sets of inscriptions. One notes the name of the coin, "SPINNER DOLPHIN," the other its weight and purity, "1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER."
