2020 Australia Gold Kangaroos

The Gold Kangaroo Series began in 1987 as the Gold Nugget. Two years later, the series changed its design and became the Gold Kangaroo. Today, the series enjoys a place at or near the top of annual ‘must have’ lists of countless collectors around the world. The 2020 will be struck in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz sizes.

2020 Gold Kangaroo Obverse

A portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark features on the obverse. The monarch faces right with her shoulders open to the holder. In addition to earrings and a necklace, she wears her Royal Diamond Diadem. That is the crown that she traditionally wears to Westminster’s State Opening of Parliament. A rim frame in which there are three inscriptions encircles her image. The inscriptions provide the monarch’s name, “ELIZABETH II,” the coin’s country, “AUSTRALIA,” and its face value.

2020 Gold Kangaroo Reverse

2020 Gold Kangaroo Reverse

The reverse design combines Australia’s flora and fauna. Two kangaroos stand by each other in the Outback. An adult is in the foreground with its long tail extending to the edge. Just beyond is a joey. They yare flanked by a couple of grass trees. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark, recognized by collectors around the world as a sign of outstanding quality, is in the lower left. Like the obverse, this face has a rim frame in which there are inscriptions. The coin’s name, “AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO,” is at the top. At the bottom are the date, “2020,” the coin’s weight, and its purity, “9999 GOLD.”
