Why add the 2020 Australia Beneath the Southern Skies 1 oz Gold $100 Coin GEM BU to your collection?
This 2020 Australia Beneath the Southern Skies 1 oz. Gold $100 Coin pays tribute to one to the greatest Numismatic Designers that Australia has ever produced, Stuart Devlin. This astounding coin is struck on a 1 oz. .9999 pure gold planchet and is available in magnificent Gem Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. This is the first year of issue for the series. It is struck by the Royal Australian Mint which strikes all of Australia's circulating coinage as well as some of the most brilliant bullion and collectible products available anywhere in the world.
The coin features latitude and longitude lines over both the obverse and reverse of the coin. The reverse features the outline of Australia with the Southern Cross constellation marked overhead. This design was inspired by a 1964 design by Stuart Devlin. Mr. Devlin won a 1964 coinage design competition as Australia was transitioning to decimal coinage. The obverse uses the official "Fifth Portrait" of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, as designed by British sculptor and artist Jody Clark.
Gem BU coins are sought after by collectors at any level of the hobby. They exhibit original surfaces, a solid strike and abundant mint luster. They would grade at the MS65 level or higher on the Sheldon Numismatic Scale.
