Mr. Flanagan was an award winning medallic sculptor, who also crafted the imagery for the 1915 commemorative Panama-Pacific International Exposition medal.
Reverse: On the reverse, a magnificently detailed Regal Fritillary butterfly appears to float among an array of windblown blades and seed heads of Big Bluestem and Indian grasses. The image is encircled by a frame containing the inscriptions "TALLGRASS PRAIRIE," "KANSAS," "2020" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
