Why buy this 2020 $50 American 1 oz Gold Eagle with MintID Encrypted NFC Microchip?
2020 marks the 35th year of the America Gold Eagle Series. The world's favorite bullion coin will undergo the biggest change in its history when the reverse design changes for the first time in 2021. That makes this edition particularly significant to collectors.
Iconic Saint-Gaudens Design
Obverse: The obverse design comes from Augustus Saint-Gaudens's double eagle. Liberty stands facing the holder with her torch, a symbol of freedom, in one hand and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, in the other. She appears larger than life thanks to the rays of the morning sun, which spread out behind her. Obverse inscriptions read, "LIBERTY" and "2020." Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1848, Augustus Saint-Gaudens was a sculptor who also designed coins an medals. Besides his famous double eagle, he also has work that features in world famous museums, including London's National Portrait Gallery, Washington, DC's National Gallery of Art, and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Reverse: Milley Busiek's reverse design features a male eagle carrying an olive branch back to his nest, where his family awaits his return. The reverse bears two statutory mottoes, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST," and three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE GOLD," and "50 DOLLARS."
