Why purchase this $1 American 2020 1 oz Silver Eagle?

The American Silver Eagle series continues to lead the world in production and collector demand. Now in its 35th year, the series is treasured by collectors thanks to its stunning designs and US government backing for weight and purity. The US Mint has begun striking the coin at multiple facilities in recent years, thus giving collectors some variety in a series that is known for its consistency. This piece was struck at the Philadelphia Mint on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.

Featuring the Patriotic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman

The coin's obverse features the famous Walking Liberty design that featured on American half dollars from 1916-1947. The work of Adolph Weinman, it features Liberty striding toward the left side of the coin draped in the stars and stripes with a Phrygian cap on her head. The cap was historically worn to indicate that someone was a freed slave. She bears laurel branches, which symbolize honors bestowed upon civilians, and oak branches, which represent honors bestowed upon military members. Her right hand she extends forward above the rising sun, as though greeting the new day. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on the rim at the top. Other inscriptions read, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2020."

John Mercanti's reverse design is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. At the top are thirteen stars, which represent the original state. Below, a union shield is guarded by a heraldic eagle. The eagle holds symbols of America's willingness to defend her values, arrows, and its desire for peace, an olive branch. In its beak it also holds a ribbon with the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one). The design is encircled by three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."

Virtually Flawless MS69
