Gorgeous Patriotic Imagery
Obverse: Lady Liberty confidently walks towards the sunrise wrapped in an American flag on the obverse, while carrying a bouquet of oak and laurel branches, symbols of strength and honor. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The design is a revival of the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar obverse designed by Adolph A. Weinman, an acclaimed architectural and medallic sculptor of the early 20th century.
Reverse: A heraldic eagle adapted from the Great Seal of the U.S. is centered on the reverse. The design by John Mercanti includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Mr. Mercanti held the position of 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver from 2006 until his retirement in 2010.
