Why add this $1 American 2020 1 oz Silver Eagle to your collection?
The American Silver Eagle was first struck in 1986 as the nation once again began issuing bullion coins. It quickly emerged as a global favorite thanks both to its stunning designs and its US government backing for weight and purity. While the bullion coins were long struck at a single mint, some recent issues have been struck at multiple branches. This piece was struck at the Philadelphia Mint on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.
Featuring the Famous Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman
The iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman features on the obverse. Liberty is draped in the American flag and wears a Phrygian cap, which traditionally identifies a freed slave, on her head. She carries branches, laurel for civilian honors and oak for military ones, in her left hand while extending her right hand in front of her above the morning sun, which rises in the distance. "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2020" are inscribed on this face.
On the reverse, three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR," encircle the design. That design is John Mercanti's adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons and a ribbon in its beak. The arrows symbolize America's willingness to defend her values and the olive branch a preference for peace, while the ribbon bears the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one).
Flawless MS70 ER with Silver Foil Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided the grading information for this coin on a silver foil label. That information includes the company's highest grade, Mint State 70, as well as Early Releases certification. An MS70 grade indicates that a coin appears perfect under 5x magnification, while ER certification means that it was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial release from the mint.
