Why add this 2020 $1 American 1 oz Silver Eagle to your collection? Now in its 35th year, the American Silver Eagle continues to be the world's most popular silver coin year in and year out. Its beautiful designs and backing for weight and purity by the US government have made the series so popular that recent mintages have been well into eight figures. In recent years, bullion coins have been struck at multiple mints. This one was struck at the Philadelphia Mint, like all other Silver Eagles from 1 oz of .999 fine silver. Featuring the Historic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph WeinmanLiberty strides to the left in the obverse design, which was created by Adolph Weinman. She is draped in the American flag and wears a traditional symbol of a freed slave, a Phrygian cap, on her head. She extends her right hand above the morning sun, as though presenting the holder with the new day, and carries laurel and oak branches in her left hand. The laurel branches represent civilian honors, and the oak branches represent military ones. Her name, "LIBERTY," joins "2020" and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," as inscriptions on this face. The Walking Liberty design first appeared on the half dollar from 1916-1947. On the reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen stars, one for each of the original states, are arranged in a triangular shape above an eagle. The eagle guards a union shield while holding a ribbon in its beak. The ribbon bears the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one). The bird also holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons. They represent a willingness to defend the nation's values and a desire for peace, respectively. Virtually Flawless MS69 ERThis coin received Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) second highest grade, Mint State 69, and Early Releases certification. The MS69 grade indicates that it appears perfect to the unaided eye, while its ER designation means that it was submitted to NGC no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint.
