Why get this $1 American 2020 1 oz Silver Eagle for your collection?
The U.S Mint began striking American Silver Eagles in 1986. Since then, the series has become one of the world's favorite bullion series. Recent years have seen mintages well over ten million pieces. The mint has also begun striking the bullion coins at multiple mints, giving collectors the chance to enjoy some variety in a generally stable series. This coin was struck at the Philadelphia Mint on a 1 oz planchet of .999 fine silver.
Powerful Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
Adolph Weinman created the Walking Liberty design for the half dollar, where it appeared from 1916-1947. The design was so popular that it was brought back when the US began issuing silver bullion coins in 1986. It features Liberty draped in the American flag and wearing a Phrygian cap as she carries laurel and oak branches. The branches represent civilian and military honors, respectively, while the cap indicates that Liberty is a freed slave. Liberty extends her hand in front of her as the morning sun emerges from beyond the horizon. It is as though the figure is presenting the new day to the holder. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on the rim at the top, while other inscriptions on this face read, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2020."
On the reverse is John Mercanti's take on the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle guards a union shield whole holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The olive branch indicates a desire for peace, while the arrows remind all that America will defend her values. In its beak the bird holds a ribbon with the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Thirteen stars represent the original states above the eagle's head. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."
Virtually Flawless MS69 with Black Core Holder
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a sleek black core holder and awarded it their second highest grade, Mint State 69. The black core holder contrasts beautifully with the coin. The MS69 grade means that the coin appears perfect to the naked eye.
