Magnificent Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: The obverse image of Walking Liberty is rejuvenated from the 1916 half dollar, depicting Lady Liberty draped in an American flag as she walks towards the rising sun carrying a cluster of oak and laurel branches. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2020" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Early 20th century medal artist and architectural sculptor Adolph A. Weinman is credited with the design.
Reverse: The reverse design by John Mercanti features a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars above. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Mr. Mercanti served as a Mint sculptor/engraver from 1974-2006, then as Chief Engraver from 2006 until his retirement in 2010.
