Why buy this 2019-W American Proof Silver Eagle?
Be a part of an American tradition that dates back to 1986 with this Proof Silver Eagle. The coin features the same iconic designs as the world's favorite bullion coin. Like that coin, it was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint. Unlike that coin, it has a stunning proof finish and the famous mint's "W" mint mark on the reverse.
Beloved Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
This coin's obverse design was adapted slightly from Adolph Weinman's design for the half dollar, which appeared on that coin from 1916-1947. Liberty strides toward the left side of the coin carrying laurel and oak branches, symbols of civilians and military honors, respectively. She holds out her right hand above the morning sun, which rises on the left, as though greeting the new day.
John Mercanti, who would later become Chief Engraver of the US Mint, created the reverse design for this series. Modeled off of the Great Seal of the United States, it consists of an eagle guarding a union shield. The eagle spreads its wings upward while holding arrows, symbols of America's readiness to defend her values, and an olive branch, a symbol of peace. The design, which also includes thirteen stars, one for each of the original states, is encircled by rim inscriptions.
Impeccable PF70 UC FR with West Point Silver Star Label
This coin was awarded the highest grade given out by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), Proof 70, which means that it is in perfect condition as seen under 5x magnification. It also received Ultra Cameo certification for its deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices and First Releases certification due to the fact that NGC received it for grading within 30 days of its initial release from the mint. NGC has provided this information on a West Point Silver Star label.
