Why buy this American 2019-W Proof Silver Eagle?
The American Silver Eagle started in 1986 and has emerged over the course of three-plus decades to become the world's favorite bullion coin. This Proof version provides collectors of the famous series the chance to appreciate its stunning designs with a sleek finish. This coin was struck on a one ounce planchet of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint, the "W" mint mark of which is included on the reverse.
Classic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The obverse design dates back to 1916 when it first appeared on Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar. Liberty strides confidently toward the left. She is draped in the American flag and wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom. She extends her right hand in front of her, as though presenting the new day to the holder as the sun rises below it. In her left hand she bears branches of laurel and oak, which represent civilian and military honors, respectively.
An adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti is on the reverse. An eagle protects a union shield while clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons. The olive branch indicates a preference for peace, while the arrows send a message to all that America is willing to defend her values. At the top of the design are thirteen stars, one for each of the original states, arranged in a triangular formation.
Impeccable PF70 UC ER with West Point Gold Star Label
This coin was graded Proof 70 by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), which means that it is perfect even as seen under 5x magnification. It also gained certification as an Ultra Cameo due to the sharp contrasts between frosted devices and mirrored fields on both of its faces. NGC provided this information, as well as Early Releases certification, on a label that bears West Point's Gold Star.
