Why add this Proof 2019-W American Silver Eagle to your collection?
The proof counterpart to the world's favorite bullion coin, this piece shares the same designs as the business strike American Silver Eagle. For collectors, that makes it an attractive option, as it offers a way to appreciate its iconic designs in a new light. Struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver, this coin bears the West Point Mint's "W" mint mark, in the lower left of the reverse.
Traditional Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The obverse design was created over a century ago by Adolph Weinman. It debuted on the half dollar in 1916 and remained there until 1947. Liberty bears laurel and oak branches as she strides toward the left side of the coin. The laurel branches represent civilian honors, while the oak branches represent military ones. Draped in the American flag, she extends her right hand in front of her above the morning sun, as though welcoming the new days. Inscriptions on this face include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2019."
The reverse design was adapted from the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti, who would go on to serve as the US Mint's Chief Engraver. An eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch as it guards a union shield. Above its head are thirteen stars, which represent the original states. Rim inscriptions offer the name of the issuing country, as well as the coin's weight and face value.
Nearly Flawless PF69
This coin earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) second highest grade, Proof 69. That means that it is in perfect condition as seen by the unaided eye.
