Why purchase this American 2019-W Proof Silver Eagle?
The Proof Silver Eagle series began with the bullion series in 1986 and has become a top choice among collectors. The proofs enhance the design through deeply mirrored fields that accentuate every detail. This is the latest edition in the American Silver Eagle proof series. It was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver at the West Point Mint and bears a "W" mint mark to the lower left of the reverse design.
Iconic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The coin's obverse features the classic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Revived for the Silver Eagle series after first appearing on the half dollar from 1916-1947, the design depicts the allegorical figure for whom it is named draped in the American flag. She carries laurel and oak branches, symbols of civilian and military honors, in her left arm, while extending her right arm above the morning sun, as though greeting the new day. "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "2019" are all inscribed on this face.
Thirteen stars are arranged in a triangular formation above an eagle on John Mercanti's reverse, which he modeled after the Great seal of the United States. The stars represent the original states. The eagle holds arrows and an olive branch, symbols of America's willingness to defend her values and a preference for peace, while guarding a union shield. Rim inscriptions encircling the design read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR."
Virtually Perfect PF69 ER with Exclusive Weinman Label
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) honored the man who designed the obverse with an exclusive label that bears his image. The grading company also certified that the coin is in perfect condition as seen by the naked eye by grading it Proof 69. They also dubbed it Early Releases, a designation that means that a coin was submitted for grading not more than 30 days after its initial mint release.
