Why add this 2019-W America the Beautiful Lowell National Park Quarter to your collection?
The U.S Mint participated in 2019 National Coin Week this year by releasing the first ever circulated quarters to bear the West Point Mint's "W" mint mark. All of the coins were released directly into circulation, putting collectors nationwide on the hunt for these elusive pieces. The "W" mint mark quarters include two million of each of the 2019 America the Beautiful Quarters. This edition is of particular interest to students of American history, as well as the workers' rights and abolition movements, as the mill girls were strong advocates on those issues.
Exquisite Mill Girl Design by Joel Iskowitz
The obverse design is the same one that has appeared on other American quarters since 1932, John Flanagan's left-side portrait of America's first President, George Washington. The Commander in Chief is joined by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
Joel Iskowitz designed and Phebe Hemphill sculpted the reverse image. A mill girl works by a window on a power loom in one of Lowell, Massachusetts's famous factories. Through the window the holder can see the Boott Mill clock tower. Rim inscriptions read, "LOWELL," "MASSACHUSETTS," "2019," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one).
Beautifully Preserved MS64 with West Point Star Label
The label on which Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided its grade features the West Point Star. NGC graded the piece Mint State 64, which indicates that it has an average or better strike.
