Eye Catching Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs

The obverse of this modern coin features a classic Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. It was first used for the half dollar in 1916. Liberty can be seen walking with a bundle of branches as the stars and stripes flow around her.

John Mercanti is the artist behind the design on the reverse. The upper portion features 13 stars, these symbolize the original colonies. The center shows a detailed bald eagle.
